The cultural sport competition that was stopped last year due to the current affairs of the country has been held this year. The 19th Awi ethnic group of districts and city administrators cultural sport competition has been held for 8 consecutive days organised by Injibara city with 12 sports.
Banja Woreda won the overall trophy in this competition and 2nd Guangua Woreda and Dangla Woreda 3rd rank and the one who makes all competitions beautiful has won the trophy for good behaviour.
On the 7th Awi cultural festival, the competition ended by holding 1st Dangla district, 2nd Guangua district and 3rd place Banja district.
Competitors said that the cultural sport competition and festival had inspired the sport and developed the relationship between people. There is no winner or loser in the competition, what we have gained is love, not a trophy said the competing sportsmen.
The cultural sport which is the basis of modern sport should be passed on to the next generation and to develop the sector similar competitions should be held in schools and trainings should be given.
The one who reported that the cultural sport and cultural festival competition has been completed peacefully is the representative manager of Awi ethnic group of youth and sport directorate Marlign.
52 sportsmen and Women representing the ethnic administration have been recruited for the 20th Amhara region cultural sport competition.
Mr. Marlign said that 374 sportsmen and Women from 9 districts and 2 city administrations participated in the competition.
