The international day for the reduction of hazards and risk was celebrated in Mananjary, Madagascar on 13 and 14 of October.
There was a mobilisation and education for children, young people, women and other communities on early warning and prompt response for all. There was also a special training of the mayors of Mananjary and they offered rice and dried nuts to the two schools in Mananjary.
The event was opened with a Carnival followed by a series of speeches. Officials toured the buildings where the disaster management and risk management officers highlighted their respective roles. Apart from that, there were also various distribution of gifts such as: SAP Kit, Multi-municipal Garbage Disposal, Sanitary Kit for Vulnerable People, Solar Kit for Women who carry household and technical tools for DRSP Vatovavy . Half of the evening continued with a great discussion about rebuilding and supporting the Vatovavy region to face different natural disasters. We ended the celebration with a tour of the many infrastructures in Mananjary.
