INOGURATION OF ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION PLANT IN FARAHANTSANA
The current government’s challenge is to double the electricity production in Madagascar through renewable energy. A challenge that runs alongside the President’s second term is to provide energy to all. Implementation of this is going on with this power plant here in Farahantsana that was established by the President Andry Rajoelina today December 1, 2022.
The plant, a partnership between the government and Italian company Tozzy Green, will generate 28 MW of energy and 136 GWh of electricity generated annually. Up to 150.000 Malagasy households will be placed on the common network of Antananarivo.
President Andry Rajoelina pointed out that the use of renewable energy from solar and water is a priority as much as possible, and that there are already many projects under implementation.
Among the Sahofika projects, which will be the country’s largest power generation camp with a capacity of 192MGW, the Mandraka III hydroelectric power plant, with a capacity of 6 MGW, is still under completion. The discussion is to launch the Volobe project of up to 120 MGW, installation is also there the Antetezambato that will produce 120 MGW of electricity.
